Dr Lord is an experienced assessor of patients who wish to undergo gender re-assignment surgery. It is important that before a surgeon operates, the diagnosis is confirmed and that there are no other serious psychiatric conditions confounding the clinical picture. Dr Lord will assess also the capacity of the patient to give informed consent for the proposed procedure. He can then prepare a report for the surgeon on these issues.
